Camillus Health Concern Employee of the Quarter – Cruz de la Cruz

We are thrilled to honor Cruz De La Cruz as our Employee of the Quarter. It is difficult to imagine anyone more deserving of this recognition. Having started at Camillus Health Concern in November 2014, Cruz began as a Patient Service Representative (PSR), she was then promoted to lead PSR and now is Patient Access Supervisor. This too, is no accident. Cruz is a tremendous leader and supervisor thanks to her listening skills and positive attitude, even in the face of staff shortages and other challenges.

“Cruz embodies the servant leader values that guide CHC,” said CEO Francis Afram-Gyening.“She is always a team player, going out of her way to help her colleagues and patients. In particular, she enjoys serving patients, each of whom she sees as a unique child of God.” 

Cruz notes that each patient has a story to tell, along with challenges they face. Cruz finds it rewarding to work at CHC where she can alleviate some of the difficulties faced by people, helping them get the care they need and deserve. 

Early in her tenure at CHC, Cruz encountered a mother of three girls who was struggling with substance use disorders. The daughters were being taken away due to the mother’s substance abuse. Cruz was able to get the mother the assistance she needed to rehabilitate and get housing. Ultimately, this mother was able to connect with her daughters. Cruz notes that as a mother herself, this patient made an impact on her own life.

Cruz has a 14-year-old son and a 4 -year-old daughter. She enjoys dancing and listening to music. Cruz is also very skilled at party planning. She puts those talents to use and loves to assist with internal CHC events, creating balloon displays and backdrops, making sure that any celebration is fun and well-decorated. 

We are thrilled to report that as Employee of the quarter, Cruz is receiving poster recognition in the employee lounge and on the website, a special invitation to a Board Meeting, prioritized parking in the CEO’sdesignated spot and $250.

CHC is pleased to be able to recognize stellar service by the wonderful individuals who make it run each and every day. Cruz De La Cruz is most deserving of this recognition as CHC’s first Employee of the Quarter.
